Why Is Everything Always Sold Out?

Why Is Everything Always Sold Out?

One of the questions I get asked most often is:

"Why is everything sold out?"

The answer is fairly simple.

Every Omen release begins as an idea. Then comes the design work, the prototyping, the manufacturing, the finishing, the packaging and everything else required to bring it to life. Long before a release appears on the website, dozens of hours have already been invested into creating it.

The limiting factor has never been ideas. The limiting factor has always been time.

Every machine has finite capacity. Every workshop has finite capacity. Every person has finite capacity. Because of that, Omen has always operated differently to larger manufacturers. The goal is not to produce the greatest number of products possible. The goal is to create the best work possible with the time available.

Some releases become editions of 15. Some become 30. Some become 50 or more. The number is never the starting point. The release comes first. The edition size follows.

Once a numbered edition sells out, it is finished.

Not paused.

Not waiting for a future restock.

Finished.

The workshop moves forward. A new idea takes its place. A new release enters development. A new chapter begins.

Collectors should know that when they acquire a numbered edition, they own a piece from a specific moment in time. That moment will not be recreated. The release remains exactly what it was intended to be.

Nothing more.

Nothing less.

Of course, not everything at Omen is a numbered edition. Some products remain available for longer periods and some return when demand makes sense. Numbered editions are different. When the final piece leaves the workshop, the edition is complete.

Past releases can still be viewed in the Archive. Not as products waiting to return, but as a record of where the workshop has been and how the collection has evolved.

The truth is that Omen doesn't run out of ideas.

It runs out of time.

Collectors who want to follow releases as they develop can also join the Discord community. Many concepts are discussed there long before they receive an edition number or appear on the website.

If you've ever wondered why a release sold out before you saw it, there's a good chance the conversation started months earlier.

A link to Discord can be found in the website menu.
