Desert Vice - Scottsdale Edition is a study in pressure, spectacle, and consequence.
Produced during tournament week in the Arizona desert, this edition draws from two parallel worlds: the controlled chaos of the Phoenix Waste Management Open, and the visual shorthand of Grand Theft Auto. One is real. One is fictional. Both operate on the edge of restraint.
The turning point is the 16th hole — where decorum fades, noise takes over, and the atmosphere shifts from competition to release. Desert Vice is anchored in that moment.
Machined from 4.8 mm solid brass, the front face features a true molten brass finish. The surface is not simulated or applied. The brass is driven to a state where it softens and flows, creating an organic, sand-like texture as it cools. The result is raw and uneven, catching light unpredictably and echoing heat, movement, and ground baked hard by the desert sun.
Running through this surface are engraved contour lines, referencing wind-shaped sand and shifting terrain. They introduce motion into an otherwise heavy object, reinforcing the idea that this environment is never static.
The front typography is constructed from six stainless steel inlays, glass bead blasted to a muted, industrial finish. Set against the darkened brass field, the stainless introduces precision and contrast without glare. Flanking the text are two brushed copper inserts, their warmth deliberately exposed, adding a secondary material note and reinforcing the heat-driven narrative of the piece.
The surrounding brass is patina blackened, then selectively brushed back by hand to reveal depth and variation beneath the surface. No two finishes are identical.
The reverse side shifts tone.
The “Wasted” text and wanted-level star system reference Grand Theft Auto’s language of consequence — not reward, not celebration, but aftermath. On the Scottsdale Edition, the markers are not numbered in a traditional sense. Instead, each marker carries a unique configuration of solid and hollow stars, forming its identity without relying on serialisation. The layout remains grounded in an ID-tag format, reinforcing the object as an artefact rather than a graphic statement.
Only five Scottsdale Edition pieces are being made.
Each is hand finished in-house, with final detailing completed one at a time.
Desert Vice is not about the moment itself, but what’s left behind once it passes.
